Origins

Commune is a California apothecary, garden, and learning portal for Earth lovers on the modern ancestral path.

Commune garden and apothecary is based on Tongva land in Los Angeles, California where the organic garden focuses on growing native California plants, ancestral medicinal herbs, and wildflowers. Commune garden is a living sanctuary space tended to with reciprocity and reverence to all beings of the land and in tune with the rhythms of the wheel of the year.

Commune channels the spirit of things wild, beautiful, and ancestral through offerings of small batch handmade herbal goods harvested straight from the garden or gathered in the wild from the mountain ranges of Southern California, redwood forests, seaside meadows, and sage scrub canyons with the intention of creating Earth devoted & flower focused herbal blends for the community.

For the ingredients not grown on the Commune or in the wild, the source still matters! Sea salt is hand harvested from the cold pure waters of Northern California and fire evaporated, creams are sourced from organic pasture, hay, and grain fed cows who are treated with love and freedom at Claravale Farms. Raw honey and bee pollen are sourced from small batch local beekeepers in Los Angeles, Ojai, and Seal Beach.

Commune is an extension of the body of work by Sasha Emoniee, an Earth guide, ceremonial artist, flower + food centered herbalist, cook, and gardener who weaves the nature of California, cosmic thematics, and a devotion to reciprocity through each element of her work. Sasha’s work spans recipe writing, food styling + installation, herbal workshops, and nature education.

She is interested in creating landscapes and experiences that encourage people to interact with the Earth through all of the senses and build seasonal rituals.

Sasha can be found in Los Angeles, drinking tea, hosting plant walks and multi sensory experiences, creating food installations, communing with trees + rivers, tending flower gardens, walking the paths of Angeles Forest, and building altars.
